The Vision Statement of Crossing Community Church
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…” Ephesians 3:20
We Believe God Can Do Immeasurably More . . .
In Loving God and Loving Others
We long to be followers of Jesus who love God more than anything this world has to offer. We encourage each other to live our lives as an expression of our love for God. We believe sacrificial love for other people demonstrates our love for God as we seek to be effective receivers and givers of God’s grace to all - not just to people who look or act like us or who agree with us.
In Our Relationships
We long to be a community of followers of Jesus that others want to ‘belong’ to, where the disconnected become connected to God and His people. Where the hurting and hopeless, the frustrated and confused of all ages and every life situation can find acceptance and a safe place in Christ as He is transparently reflected in our lives. We seek to relate to each other with authenticity, honesty and grace. We do not gloss over each other’s sins or blind spots nor do we use truth to dishonor or disrespect others. The goal of our relationships is to encourage each other to love God and sacrifice for His glory.
Small groups are the center of church life for us. In them, needs become known and are met, we help each other apply God’s Word to our lives, and we pray intimately for each other. Small groups provide the encouragement to push through life’s hardships.
In Spiritual Disciplines
We long to be followers of Jesus who understand the tension of living by faith in a society based on science and facts. Our lifestyle should be guided by prayer and study of God’s Word. We believe worship is more than a Sunday morning activity, it is a daily response to God for all He is and has done. We see ourselves not as owners of anything, but as stewards on God’s behalf, using our time, talent, energy, and income as He directs. [1]
In Our Communities and Around the World
We long to be followers of Jesus who understand that our lifestyle is our greatest form of evangelism, who are equipped and ready to discuss how Christ has changed our lives and can do the same for others. We desire to become more outwardly focused and intentional about meeting the needs of others. We strive to produce people from our Body who are trained and eager to begin new churches throughout our region and ultimately around the world. As people from our church work and minister overseas, our desire is for those who remain in our fellowship to actively facilitate their work. We do not send people to “do ministry” but to build relationships that allow an opportunity for the Good News of Jesus to be felt and heard.
In Our Service
We long to be followers of Jesus who see Christ working through people who do not define ‘ministry’ as a paid position, but as an opportunity to serve others wherever opportunity may appear. We believe that church is where people are equipped to lead, serve and minister at their own initiative with an understanding of their spiritual gifts and their individual responsibility. This means people move from being consumers of ministry to participating in and initiating ministry in such a way that we see God do this and immeasurably more through the people of Crossing Community Church.
